SEOUL, April 9 (Yonhap) -- Davichi (vocalists Lee Hae-ri and Kang Min-kyung), famously known as the powerful songstress duo in S.Korea, will be releasing their new song.
According to the pop duo's agency, Stone Music Entertainment, Davichi will release their new digital single "Just Hug Me" at 6 p.m. (KST) on the 12th. It is the first time in a year and four months for Davichi to drop a new song.
"Just Hug Me" is a song about wanting to warmly hug one's lover without any excuses when meeting them again after overcoming their breakup. Both Kang Min-kyung and Lee Hae-ri participated in writing the lyrics.
The lyrics also incorporate the everyday lifestyle that has changed due to the pandemic. Kang Min-kyung explained in a question-and-answer released through her agency, "We wanted to capture the sadness people feel these days, such as not being able to live our normal daily lives or going through an unwanted separation from our loved ones."
"I sincerely hope that through this song, we can reach out to as much people as we can," she added.
Lee Hae-ri also mentioned, "Producer ARMADILLO, who was in charge of composing and arranging the songs while also participating in writing the lyrics, told us that it would be good to deliver a hopeful message in our lyrics." "So, we wrote about how we wish people can strongly overcome this situation even though we are sensitive and tired from living in a pandemic," the singer said.
"The melody and atmosphere of the song is bright, fresh, and beautiful but contains sentimental lyrics. There is an overwhelming feeling of emotion that comes to a person when two opposite feelings come together," singer Lee Hae-ri added.
Davichi is the longest-serving female duo in Korea, and has released several popular songs such as "8282," "Don't say Goodbye" and "Let the time stop" after their title track of their first album, "Even though I hate you, I love you" became a big hit.
Recently the duo participated in the OST (Original Soundtrack) of popular dramas such as "Crash Landing on You," The King: Eternal Monarch," and "Startup" as well as The Late Kim Hyun-sik's 30th Anniversary Memorial album "Making Memories."
