SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- The debut album 'SUPER REAL ME' by rookie girl group ILLIT has achieved a record-breaking first-week sales volume among debut albums released by K-pop girl groups.
According to the sales data compiled by the album sales tracking site Hanteo Chart on the 1st, the album released on the 25th of last month sold 385,600 copies in its first week, securing the top spot among debut albums by girl groups.
First-week album sales in the music industry are considered a significant indicator of an artist's popularity and the size of their fandom.
Following ILLIT, their agency, Hive, also produced the 2nd place album by NewJeans (311,000 copies) and the 3rd place album by Leseraphim (307,000 copies), dominating the top three positions in this category.
The title track of ILLIT's debut album, 'Magnetic,' has received praise for its addictive melody, entering high rankings on major music charts.
Particularly noteworthy is that the song made its debut on Spotify's 'Daily Top Song Global' among K-pop girl groups on its debut day. Additionally, it achieved the fastest entry into Spotify's 'Weekly Top Song Global' among K-pop groups.
