JEJU, Aug. 3 (Yonhap) -- Jeju's local companies are launching a pop-up store at a duty-free shop popular with foreign tourists in a bid to reach overseas consumers.
Jeju Province, the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, and Shilla Duty Free's Jeju branch will jointly operate the "Jeju Local Brand x Shilla Duty Free Pop-up Store" on the second floor of the duty-free shop from Aug. 3-15.
The pop-up will feature 10 Jeju-based companies in the food and beverage, beauty and lifestyle sectors selected through a public competition and expert evaluation.
The participating companies are Nyam Nyam Jeju, Day Off Studio, Motherworks, Saeoreum, Jeju Fragrance Lab, Kakao Family, Taebanui Ttang Jeju Co., Hi Bella, Hallasan Confectionery and Halla Eco Food.
As part of its efforts to support the local community, Shilla Duty Free's Jeju branch is providing the pop-up space and reducing sales commission fees for participating businesses.
Various promotional events will also be held during the event. All customers will receive a commemorative shopping bag, while those spending at least 30,000 won (US$21.60) will receive a limited-edition reusable bag featuring Jeju local brands.
The participating companies will also provide additional product samples to their customers.
On the opening day, officials from Jeju Province, Shilla Duty Free and the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation will discuss ways to expand sales channels for Jeju local brands and promote the regional economy through shared growth initiatives.
