Korea Foundation to support 6 of Exhibitions being held abroad regarding contemporary arts and more of S.Korea

SEOUL February 9 (Yonhap) -- Exhibition showcasing the culture of South Korea through artwork will be held in six different countries within North America, Europe, and Asia.

According to the Korea Foundation on February 9, 10 of the organizations will be supporting the funds to host the art exhibition throughout six of the counties.

Starting in June, until September of 2023, Heistings Museum will be showcasing exhibitions regarding artist Yun Hyong-keun.

Artist Yun Hyong-keun who painted “Umber Blue” which mixes both umber umber with aquamarine to showcase the sky and land, received a lot of attention after K-pop super star RM sang a song called “Yun.”

Continuing on the museum in Berlin Germany will be hosing a photo exhibition called “DMZ: the back end of the last front.”

The exhibition will feature South Korean photographer Park Jong-woo’s photos of DMZ and west and east Germany before they united in order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of peace.

Moreover, the Guggenheim Museum will showcase 100 pieces by South Korean experimental artists from September of 2023 to January of 2024.

Before being exhibited in Guggenheim Museum, the experimental art pieces will be featured in Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.

The Philadelphia Museum of art which has history of over 150 years will be hosting a grand exhibition regarding South Korean Contemporary art in October through December of 2023, this exhibition will shine light on pieces created after 1989.

New York’s Stony Brook University’s gallery and University of Mary Washington’s gallery will be showcasing 30 of the pieces done by leading figure of South Korean ink and wash painting scene, Park Dae-sung.

Pieces done by painter Park has a history of being exhibited in LA County Museum, Harvard’s Korea Institute, Dartmouth’s Hood Museum and more.

To continuing on, supports and fundraisings for the art pieces regarding technology infused art genre will continue on.

Cern: conseil Europeen pour la recherché Nucleaire located within Switzerland will be exhibiting “Exploring the Unknown” in celebration of opening of the research center Science Gateway. Within the exhibition, works from six of the South Korean artists such as Kim Yoon-cheol, and more will be showcased for 3 consecutive years starting in June of 2023.

Moreover, modern ceramics center located within the capital of Latvia, Riga will showcase pottery collection from South Korea throughout the International Ceramics Biennale of 2023, starting in September of 2023 and ending in January of 2024.

The AHL Foundation will be hosting a special work shop and exhibition regarding South Korean ceramics throughout July and August.

Heritage Space located in Vietnam which strives toward collaborating with various artists within Asia, will be showcasing combined exhibition regarding number of rising artist from South Korea and Vietnam through October and December.

The official of Korea Foundation has addressed “For the past 30 years, we have worked very hard to let the word regarding the beauty of South Korean Arts,” adding “Since more and more of the media are paying more attention to the Korean arts, we will do our best to spread the amazing nature of Korean arts through global audiences.”
