SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) - Director James Cameron's "Titanic: 25th Anniversary" has started second in the Korean box office.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated Box-office Information System on Thursday, “Titanic: 25th Anniversary” attracted 41,000 viewers (29.8% of sales share) the day before its release, ranking second after the animation “The First Slam Dunk.”

“Titanic: 25th Anniversary” is a remastered version of “Titanic” (1997) to mark the 25th anniversary of its release.

"Titanic" is a work that adds imagination to the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, depicting the love between Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) who met on a super-luxury ferry.

Another production directed by Cameron and the first 10 million movie of the year, "Avatar: The Way of Water," fell one notch to third place, attracting more than 9,000 people (6.6%) the previous day.

As a result, two works by Cameron have ranked second and third in the box office side by side.

The movie "Next Sohee," starring Bae Doo-na and Kim Si-eun, which was released along with "Titanic: 25th Anniversary," entered ninth place with more than 5,000 audiences (2.5%).

"Next Sohee" depicts the story of Yoo-jin (Bae Doona), a detective who pursues the truth of the case and the death of Sohee (Kim Si-eun), a specialized high school student who went on a field trip to a call center.
