SEOUL, June 9 (Yonhap) -- TvN unveiled its line-up of six television series that are set to unveil one after another in the second half of this year.
The hit action series “The Uncanny Counter” will return with a second season in July. Titled “The Uncanny Counter: Counter Punch,” this sequel will continue to feature a group of Counters who hunt down evil spirits by using their own special abilities. Previously aired on OCN, the first season received rave reviews, scoring an average nationwide rating of 11 percent at its height.
The main cast of the first season, including Jo Byeong-kyu, Kim Se-jeong, Yoo Jun-sang, Yeom Hye-ran and Ahn Suk-hwan, will continue to lead the series. In the meantime, Jin Sun-kyu, Kang Ki-young, Ki Hieo-ra and Yoo In-soo will join the crew.
In September, “Arthdal Chronicles” (2019) will drop its second season. Set 8 years after the first season, “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon” will tell the story after Tagon was enthroned as the king of Arthdal.
Jang Dong-gun will be back to reprise his role of Tagon, while Kim Ok-vin suits up as Taealha. Lee Joon-ki and Shin Se-kyung will co-star as characters newly introduced in the second season.
In October, the highly anticipated rom-com “Diva of the Deserted Island” will hit the small screens. The series had already garnered attention by confirming Park Eun-bin, who adeptly played her role in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” for the female lead. Park will play the role of Seo Mok-ha, a bright and positive girl who is rescued on a deserted island after going missing for some 15 years, and continues to pursue her dreams of becoming a diva.
Meanwhile, “See You in My 19th Life,” starring Shin Hye-sun and Ahn Bo-hyun, is just around the corner. Scheduled to premiere on June 17, this fantasy rom-com will follow the story of Ban Ji-eum, a woman who can remember the memories of all her past lives, encountering her lover from her previous life.
Another rom-com series “My Lovely Liar” will unveil on July 24. Starring Hwang Min-hyun and Kim So-hyun, the series will tell the romantic story of a woman who cannot trust people due to her ability to hear lies and a murder suspect who no one believes in.
The fantasy coming-of-age series “Sparkling Watermelon” will also air in September. This series will offer the story of a musical prodigy crash-landing in an unfamiliar space and forming a band. Actor Ryeo-un will suit up as Eun-gyeol, a music genius born to deaf parents.
