SEOUL, March 23 (Yonhap) -- K-pop superband BTS’s album released four and a half years ago, reentered the U.S. Billboard chart.
BTS’s “LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her” succeeded in entering the Top Album Sales chart by ranking No. 40, according to Billboard’s latest chart released on Tuesday (local time).
This album, dropped in September 2017, is the fifth EP of the group.
The EP, which contained the first story of the "Love Yourself" series, recorded 1.12 million pre-orders in Korea at the time of its release and ranked No.7 on the Billboard main album chart, Billboard 200.
In addition to this album, BTS has been showing steady performance on the Billboard charts.
BTS and the band Coldplay’s joint song “My Universe,” released in September 2021, ranked No. 25 and No. 37 on Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) and the Billboard Global 200, respectively.
Billboard’s Global charts rank songs based on streaming and sales in over 200 countries, and “My Universe” remained at the top for 25 consecutive weeks.
The song ranked No. 14 on the Hot Alternative Song chart, No. 15 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales, No. 25 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, and No. 16 on the Billboard Canada AC chart.
BTS’s major hit songs also succeeded in remaining on the global charts.
On the Billboard Global 200 chart, the group set records with “Butter” at No. 45, “Dynamite” at No. 47, and “Permission To Dance” at No. 132.
The group was also named on the “Billboard Global”(Excl. U.S.) chart by ranking “Butter” at No. 32, “Dynamite” at No. 34, and “Permission To Dance” at No. 67.
Tomorrow X Together (TXT), a group of the same agency as BTS, was also listed on the Billboard chart.
TXT was the first male K-pop artist to rank No. 18 on the Song Breaker chart in March. 12, according to the agency Big Hit Music.
The Song Breaker chart ranks the top music-breaking creators on user-generated content platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and more.
“The dance challenge to Salem Ilese’s song ‘PS5,’ featured by Yeonjun and Taehyun, received great responses and the number of contents using the track surpassed 15,000 in three days," explained the agency.
In Billboard’s main singles chart Hot 100, the song “Heat Waves” of UK’s indie rock band Glass Animals, topped the chart for 3 weeks.
The song, released in June 2020, went viral through social media and ranked No. 1 after entering the Billboard chart for 59 weeks.
