SEOUL, November 11 (Yonhap) -- "My 'Next Level' was always a concern while preparing for this album. I wanted to show better dance choreography and make a cooler MV."
Singer AleXa showed her determination at the media showcase she held for her third mini album, "Girls Gone Vogue," on November 11, saying that she wants to promote her name "AleXa" in Korea through this album. "Girls Gone Vogue" gained a lot of attention as it is AleXa's first album since winning the American Song Contest on NBC TV in May.
She appeared on the show as a representative of her hometown of Oklahoma and won the championship over prominent pop stars such as Allen Stone and Michael Bolton.
AleXa Saif said, "I was so nervous participating in the American Song Contest as it was my first experience as a singer and also because it was such a big program," and added, "We prepared for this album without sleep with all the staff."
AleXa held tour concerts in eight U.S. cities, including Oklahoma, ahead of the album's release.
"I performed 'Wonderland' (the song she performed at the American Song Contest)' as an encore during the concert in Oklahoma, and the fans loved it," Alexa said. "It was so amazing that the fans knew the lyrics and danced along with me."
She also said, "I heard "Wonderland" on the radio while I was traveling by car in Los Angeles, U.S., and it was amazing," and added, "It was astonishing to hear my song for the first time on the radio."
This album contains various genres such as synth pop and medium-tempo R&B pop. Concept videos and music videos also provided rich attractions through colorful circus images and a retro atmosphere.
The title track, "Back In Vogue," is a song that encompasses pop, old jazz, and old school hip-hop sounds from the 1980s and 1990s.
AleXa said, "'Back in Vogue' is a song that contains the style of vogging (a genre of dance) from the 1980s and 1990s, and I've had the title of 'Female Warrior' so far, and this time I want to be known as the "Concept Queen."
She added, "I had to act in front of a chroma key as there were a lot of CGs used in this MV," and added, "I had my shooting imagining how it was going to come out. I acted on top of a green box for the scene I'm falling from the space."
Other than the title track, "Star," the track on which Moonbyul featured, and "Black Out," which presents a magnificent chorus, were tracked.
AleXa was excited as she heard the name Moonbyul. She who participated in MAMAMOO's MV when she was a trainee, said that she has been Moonbyul's fan for a long time.
AleXa said, "Moonbyul sent me a message to cheer me at the time of the American Song Contest," and said, "I am so happy to be able to have a collaboration with her. I would love to treat her if she has time."
"This time, I will be showing more sides of myself compared to the previous album. I really like it because it has a chic side, a grown-up side, and a feminine feeling."
