SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Yonhap) -- WT (World Taekwondo) demonstration team, with the massive supporting votes from the local watchers, has made it through to the semifinals in American NBC's popular audition program "America's Got Talent."
The demonstration team was the last to preform on the stage among the 12 quaterfinal teams on the 25th before noon (KST) according to the association.
The quaterfinal was held in the Dolby Theater in Hollywood Los Angelos California where the Academy Awards usually take place.
The team once received the golden buzzer to the finals in "Italy's Got Talent" in January 2020. The officials of America Got Talent has sent multiple requests for the team to appear in their show after having watched their videos in Italy and the team applied for the audition this spring.
The host awarded the team with the golden buzzer making them run straight to the quaterfinal.
The audiences rose to their feet to give an applause to the already-famous WT team with their previous videos.
The star team performed for 3 minutes under the topic about modern citizens, living in a rapidly changing society, striving to construct a better society and peaceful society with the Taekwondo spirit.
The stunned judges, Simon Cowell, Sophia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel stood up for an applause with the audiences after the end of the performance.
"This was the best act of the night," praised the judges.
"I would definitely buy tickets to see you guys in Vegas, for sure," said Heidi
"It's like a Marvel movie musical. They do everything in the movie with CGi and digital. (But) you do it real," said Howie.
The result of the votes were live-broadcasted at the same place on the 26th, the next day of the competition.
The team made it into the top 5 to automatically advance to the semifinal.
All the judges clapped their hands for the team saying that their progress was of no doubt.
The semifinal will be aired live on Sep. 1 and the final will be held on Sep. 15.
The final winner will be awarded with a million (around 1.17 billion won) of prize money.
America Got Talent is a large and most popular audition program and is on its 16th season.
Unlike other audition programs, as it has no boundaries on subjects, various participants can perform their own talents through the show.
