SEOUL, April 27 (Yonhap) -- According to Twitter, 660,000 tweets with the hashtag "윤여정" and "Youn Yuh-jung" flooded over Twitter on the 26th (KST) after "Minari"'s Youn Yuh-jung won the Best Supporting Actress award at the Academy Awards. 

160,000 tweets related to the actress poured out for an hour from 11 a.m. on the 26th until the moment the award was announced. Most of the tweets were sent from people living in South Korea, the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and the United Kingdom

On the official Academy Awards twitter account (@TheAcademy), which announced the winner of the award for each category, the post with Youn Yuh-jung's name received more than 39,000 retweets.

The most retweeted post on the Academy Awards twitter account was last year's tweet, which announced the award for the film "Parasite," totaling up to more than 170,000 retweets.

Kim Yeon-jeong, the Head of Twitter's Global Kpop & Kcontent Partnership, said, "The news on Director Bong Joon-ho's success in winning four Academy Awards through his movie 'Parasite' last year sparked a lot of tweets on Twitter. This year, actress Youn Yuh-jung's achievement with 'Minari' is bringing back the same phenomenon."
