SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- Shinsegae Duty Free said Tuesday it has established a system linking Amorepacific's in-house Beauty Point membership program to its online mall, allowing customers to use the points there.

The duty-free retailer said it is the first in South Korea's duty-free industry to directly link a brand's membership points with an online duty-free mall.

To mark the launch of the service, Shinsegae Duty Free is running a promotion on its online mall through Sept. 30, with 11 major Amorepacific brands, including Sulwhasoo, Hera, Aestura, Laneige, IOPE and Primera, taking part.

Starting with this promotion, the company plans to hold three additional large-scale "Mega Sale" events through next year to coincide with major holiday seasons.

Customers linking their Beauty Point accounts for the first time will receive up to 5,000 points.

Brands including Sulwhasoo, Hera and Aestura will offer products exclusively available through the duty-free channel, along with gifts for qualifying purchases.

Shinsegae Duty Free said it plans to gradually expand partnerships with brands that operate their own membership programs.

A Shinsegae Duty Free official said, "Cosmetics account for about 60 percent of sales across all categories at Shinsegae Duty Free, so we expect this partnership to strengthen our competitiveness in the beauty sector."
