SEOUL, Sept. 18 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actress IU donated a total of 200 million won (US$150,000) under the name "IUaena," a combination of her name and her fandom name "Uaena," to mark her debut anniversary on Friday, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, said.
IU donated 50 million won each to the Korean Association of Social Welfare, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, Heart-Heart Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Korea.
The donations will be used to support stable independence for young people preparing to live independently, rehabilitation treatment for children and teenagers facing financial difficulties, living expenses, education and mental health support for young women preparing for independence, and housing improvements for national merit recipients.
IU has consistently made donations under the name "IUaena" on special occasions, including her debut anniversary, birthday and the year-end and New Year period.
She donated 100 million won for children and teenagers on Children's Day this year and 300 million won on May 16, her birthday.
