Breathtaking coastal scenery from ‘Sacheon Eye’

 

Located at the eastern end of Dongseodong in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, Choyangdo Island offers extraordinary landscapes with refreshing clear skies, blue seas, mountains, and captivating scenes at every corner.

The combination of azure seas, small islands, and fishing boats scattered like a painting creates a picturesque view.

One can enjoy the city abounding with fun attractions and activities. The stunning views of Hallyeosudo National Marine Park from “Sacheon Eye,” a large observation wheel, presents a memory hard to forget.

Choyangdo, a beautiful place at every glance

Named after the island where military horses were grazed in the past, Choyangdo boasts beautiful spots in every direction.

To the west lies Silannakjo, to the east is the Samcheonpo Sea, and at the southern tip of the island, there is a small village with fish farms. The densely arranged orange roofs are quite charming.

Choyangdo was selected as one of the supported sites for the '2023 Tourism Area Development Project,' organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.

The Aramaru Aquarium, designed in a terraced structure considering the topography, is part of this project. It emphasizes the pulsating rhythm of vibrant life created by the collaboration between humans and nature.

Rather than a simple exhibition, the aquarium strives to respect the life of organisms and preserve their habitats. For tourists, it serves as a learning space to interact with rare and fascinating animals such as seals, otters, pygmy hippos, Indian gharials, and Galapagos iguanas.

New Landmarks 'Sacheon Eye' and 'Carousel'

A new tourist attraction has emerged in Sacheon, a city gaining attention nationwide for its maritime tourism. Sacheon Eye officially opened on May 26, and is now in full operation.

Standing at a maximum height of 72 meters, Sacheon Eye is a rotating observation wheel with 24 cabins accommodating up to 96 passengers. The ride lasts approximately 8 to 9 minutes, offering breathtaking views of the Sacheon Sea from a height equivalent to a 25-story building, leaving spectators in awe.

Near Sacheon Eye, a double-decker carousel is also in operation. Young boys and girls, holding onto their parents' hands, ride the carousel with joyful smiles. The spinning carousel, the rotating observation wheel, and the cheerful children create a scene reminiscent of a warm and fantastical fairy tale.

With attractions like Sacheon Sea Cable Car, Aramaru Aquarium, the newly introduced Sacheon Eye, and the carousel, Choyangdo has transformed into a representative tourist destination, providing visitors with a unique and delightful experience.
