SEOUL, May 18 (Yonhap) -- Namhae County in South Gyeongsang Province will hold the 2026 German Village Maifest this weekend at the German Village plaza in Samdong Township, officials said Monday.

 

The festival will take place on Saturday at the county's signature tourist destination, where visitors can enjoy exotic scenery alongside spring flowers and cultural events.

 

This year's festival will combine colorful spring blossoms with a variety of cultural and hands-on programs set against the backdrop of the German Village's scenic landscape.

 

A parade featuring traditional German-style themes and performances will be held during the event to entertain visitors. The festival grounds will also be decorated with flower carpets made of various spring flowers to enhance the festive atmosphere.

 

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of interactive programs, including live caricature events by artist Shanti, instant photo booths, flower bracelet-making and flower crown-making activities.

 

Special programs for children, such as snack-catching games and the "Ring the Maybaum Bell" event, are also planned.

 

A county official said the festival is designed to harmonize spring flowers, performances and hands-on activities, adding that families, couples and friends are invited to visit the German Village and create memorable springtime experiences together.
