SEOUL April 17 (Yonhap) -- Suga, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, has achieved a remarkable milestone with his solo concert film "Agust D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE" becoming the highest-grossing live concert film worldwide this year.
According to distributor Trafalgar Releasing on the 16th (local time), the film, screened from the 10th to the 14th of this month, recorded a revenue of $11.6 million (approximately 141 billion won) globally.
Trafalgar Releasing explained, "This marks the highest revenue-generating film among concert films in the United States and worldwide this year, as well as the highest revenue-generating film event by a solo K-pop artist."
"Agust D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE" was screened in over 100 regions during the period, meeting audiences in more than 3,500 cinemas.
In the North American region, the film ranked second at the box office, earning $961,000 (approximately 13 billion won) from 784 cinemas on the 10th. The average revenue per screen was $1,264 (approximately 1.75 million won). The cumulative revenue in North America reached $2.3 million (approximately 32 billion won).
Mark Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, expressed excitement over the explosive response to 'Agust D TOUR D-DAY THE MOVIE'. He stated, "This is a true testament to Suga's artistry and showcases the power he holds to inspire fans globally, while also indicating a strong desire for live concert film experiences worldwide."
With the success of Suga's concert film, screenings in the United States have been extended until the 21st.
Suga, who completed a world tour last year, attracted over 300,000 audiences in 10 cities, including encore concerts. He has been fulfilling his military duty as a conscripted policeman since September last year.
