SEOUL, Apr. 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korean star director-cum-screenwriter Park Hoon-jung’s upcoming action-noir film “The Childe,” starring Kim Seon-ho, is set to hit local theaters in June, according to distributor NEW Tuesday.
This action-packed flick will follow the story of a struggling boxer Marco with a Korean father and a Filipino mother, who does everything for money, confronting forces with rather conflicting means. Kim Seon-ho has been slated to star as a mysterious childe chasing after Marco.
This forthcoming fantasy-action film will mark the big screen debut of Kim, who kicked off his acting career by starring in the play “New Boeing Boeing” in 2009. Kim formerly dropped out of a series of films in 2021 after being embroiled in a scandal, but he filmed “The Childe” as scheduled. The 36-year-old, who plucked to stardom with his leading role in tvN’s rom-com series “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” has been set to co-star with the budding actor Kang Tae-joo, who plays Marco, as well as actress Go A-ra.
Director Park, who is known for producing a slew of mega-hit action-noir films including “New World” and “The Witch” series, has taken the helm of “The Childe.”
Meanwhile, director Park will be working with actor Kim once again for his upcoming project “The Tyrant,” which he started shooting earlier this year. The release date for his second project with Kim is yet to be confirmed.
