JYP's Stray Kids receives Gold Disc with new Japanese single, "TOP."

SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group, Stray Kids have been awarded at the 2021 Japan Disc Awards with their first single released in Japan. 


The boy group's agency, JYP Entertainment said that more than 100,000 copies of "TOP - Japanese ver." released in June of last year has been shipped and therefore have been certified with a gold disc by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. 
 

It is a single containing the opening song "Top" of the popular animation "Tower of God" and the ending song "Slump," and the team's production group 3RACHA participated in the songwriting, composition and arrangement.

The single was a huge hit, topping the Oricon daily and weekly singles charts in Japan shortly after its release and also topping Tower Records Chart, one of the largest record charts.

Stray Kids was popular even before their debut, attracting about 8,000 viewers with a showcase held in Tokyo in December 2019. They made their official debut in November last year with their first mini-album "All In."

Last year, they broke their initial (first week sales) records with their first full-length album "GO生" and repackaged album "IN生", which were released in Korea.

Recently, they have appeared on Mnet's boy group competition program 'Kingdom: Legendary War' to expand their fandom. Their stage video also surpassed 9 million views on YouTube.
