'Classic Revolution 2022' to kick off in August

SEOUL, July 17 (Yonhap) -- The classical music festival "Classic Revolution 2022", which showcases the songs of selected composers every year, will be held at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa district, announced Lotte cultural Foundation on Thursday.

This year’s “Classic Revolution 2022” will be focused on Mendelssohn and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Conductor Christoph Poppen will participate as the art director of the festival and starting with world famous pianist Lim Yun-chan, S. Korean pianist Kim Sun-wook, Lee Hyuk, violinist, Clara Jumi-kang and more of the leading figures of K-classic will take the stage.

To kick off the festival, conductor Christoph Poppen will take the stage with, Clara Jumi-kang, soprano Hwang Sumi, Hong Ju-young, tenor Kim Se-il and Kyunggi philharmonic orchestra will take the stage to perform Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No. 2” and “violin concerto in e minor” and more.

Recent winner of the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Lim Yun-chan will perform Mendelssohn’s “Piano Concerto No. 1” with KBS Symphony orchestra on August 20. Concert conducted by S. Korean pianist Kim Sun-wook is already sold out.

Moreover, S. Korean pianist Lee Hyuk who drew a lot of attention at the Chopin international piano competition in 2021, after making it to the finals will perform the “Piano Concerto No. 2“on August 13.

“Classic Revolution 2022” will feature a “Chamber Music Day” on August 15, which will provide listeners with pieces that are hard to come by.
