SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) -- “The Outlaws 2,” a movie planned and starred by actor Ma Dong-seok, is confirmed to be released in May.

Attention is focused on whether Korean films, which have been in a slump since the COVID-19 pandemic, will be able to open the door to success again.

Film distributor ABO Entertainment released a teaser poster on Monday along with the fact that "The Outlaws 2" will be released in May.

"The Outlaws," which was released in the fall of 2017, has attracted 6.88 million viewers and ranked third as the all-time teenager restricted film at the box office.

In the second movie, which is set four years after the previous story Ma Seok-do (played by Ma Dong-seok), a monster detective who can overpower any criminal with a fist, and his violent team will continue their thrilling crime battles.

Actor Son Seok-koo will join as the new villain Kang Hae-sang, who connects with the ruthless villain Jang Chen (played by actor Yoon Kye-sang) shown in the previous film.

Director Lee Sang-yong, who was the supporting director of "The Outlaws," will make his debut by directing the second movie.

Ma drew attention when his Hollywood entry "Eternals," filmed around the same time as "The Outlaws 2," was released in November last year.
