CJ ENM’s O’PENing projects receive invitations from overseas film festivals

SEOUL, Apr. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korean series that have been meticulously selected and created by the leading entertainment and retail conglomerate CJ ENM, including “XX+XY,” “The Apartment Is Beautiful,” and “The Underworld Rider” (literal translations), as a part of its mega project O’PENing that was designed to discover and foster new content creators have received welcoming invitations to several overseas film festivals.

The four-episode long “XX+XY,” which tells the story of a child who has the right to decide the choice of gender and makes a life-changing decision through adolescence, was officially invited to BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival that was held last month. Formerly known as the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, this film festival touts itself as the biggest LGBTIQ+ film event in Europe.

Meanwhile, another eye-catching project “The Apartment Is Beautiful” has been invited to compete at Germany’s Bremen Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held for four days from Wednesday. The fantasy thriller “The Underworld Rider” has also received an invitation to the Houston International Film Festival that will be held from April 25 to 30.

CJ ENM’s O’PENing is an anthology series of special television series created by this entertainment giant into unusually short episodes and aired on the local cable channel tvN.
