J-Hope to release individual single 'on the street'

J-Hope of K-pop juggernaut BTS will drop a new solo single, "on the street," and its music video Friday, the band's agency said.

The single is set to come out at 2 p.m., about seven months after he rolled out his first official solo album, "Jack in the Box," in July last year, according to BigHit Music.

The lo-fi hip-hop song with a comfortable melody and warm lyrics is a collaboration with American rapper and producer J. Cole. The BTS dancer-rapper also participated in composing and writing the lyrics.

J-Hope wrote the track to share his candid feelings toward his fans, with the space of "on the street," where many people walk, breathe and feel various emotions, as a motif.

The word "street" in the title refers to J-Hope's roots -- street dance -- where his dream to become an artist began and traces of his intense life exist, according to the agency.

J. Cole will also appear in the song's music video set to be released simultaneously.

J-Hope recently decided not to delay his conscription after earlier receiving permission to do so, and will become the second BTS member to enlist following the oldest member Jin, according to the agency.

K-pop girl group aespa held their first solo concert since their debut in 2020, and in total, over 10 thousand audiences gathered up to see them perform on stage.

With unique concept of group’s personal metaverse aespa released series of hit tracks such as “Black Mamba,” “Next Level,” “Savage” and more. Overall the group managed to not only sell over a million copies of their album, but also became one of the leading figures within the fourth generation K-pop girl group within 2022.

Throughout the concert the group not only performed individual solo stages but also over 10 of the un-released tracks starting with “YOLO,” “Hot Air Balloon,” “Salty & Sweet” and more receiving great round of applause.

For the group’s first solo concert, aespa kicked off their concert with their title track “Girls” from second mini alum.

Aespa’s concert was streamed live through online streaming platform “Beyond Live” for their global fans, especially various SM members such as TVXQ’s Max Changmin, Girls Generation’s Taeyeon, ShiNee’s Minho and more showed up at the scene of the concert in order to cheer aespa up.

As aespa performed their mega hit track “Next Level,” and “Black Mamba,” the scene of the concert hit the highest where fans waved their goods and sang along to the songs.

With group’s un released track “Till We Meet Again” and one of the tracks from their second mini album “ICU” the group successfully finished their concert which consisted over 2 hours.

 

 

◇ 'Physical 100' under controversy over manipulation of final winner

Global OTT service platform Netflix’s South Korean survival variety show “Physical 100” has been caught in a controversy over the manipulation of the final competition.

Throughout an interview with a media outlet of South Korea on February 28, professional cyclist Jung Hae-min addressed that the production team has stopped the final competition twice due to technical difficulties despite the fact that he was leading the competition.

Cyclist Jung Hae-min who participated in the “Physical 100” went against cross fit competitor Woo Jin-yong during the final match which aired on February 21. Both of the contestants went against each other on a match of pulling ropes, and as a result, cross fit competitor Woo Jin-yong won the match and was awarded with 300 million won.

Later on throughout various online community, rumors regarding the technical difficulties which has caused interruption of the competition and how that has led to the change in the final winner of the competition has been switched.

Representative of K-pop girl group New Jean’s entertainment agency Min Hee-jin has been selected as one of the most influential female leader within the music industry.

According to the “2023 Billboard Woman in Music” released on February 27, through main webpage of Billboard, HYBE’s T&D (Training and Development) general manager Shin Seon-jung was listed alongside the representative of ADOR, Min Hee-jin.

Billboard’s “Woman in Music” lists up various woman within the music industry which has made a significant impact within the music industry starting from artists, creators, producers, representatives and more.

Min Hee-jin accumulated a lot of respect since her days in the SM Entertainment for successfully coming up with various concepts for the artists such as, ShiNee, Girl’s Generaltion, EXO, and various globally well known K-pop artists.

Later on Min Hee-jin was appointed as the representative of ADOR, and successfully debuted the sensational girl group “New Jeans” becoming one of the main K-pop producers within South Korea.

General Manager Shin Seon-jung who was also included within the list alongside Min Hee-jin has a history being included within “2022 Billboard 40 Under 40” in the past.

T&D is a subsidiary of HYBE where they major in selection process of trainees for upcoming K-pop artist, educate them and more, for instance, HYBE’s global sensation BTS, Tomorrow X Together, LESSERAFIM and more has been part of the T&D program.

 

 

 Actor Yoo Ah-in additionally tests positive for cocaine, ketamine

Actor Yoo Ah-in has additionally tested positive for cocaine and ketamine in a drug test that previously showed him positive for propofol and marijuana, officials said Thursday.

The 37-year-old actor whose real name is Uhm Hong-sik has been under police investigation after a Ministry of Food and Drug Safety report that he has purchased propofol for non-medical purposes since 2021. 


Last month, police sent his hair and urine samples to the National Forensic Service for tests, and the result was previously known to be positive for marijuana and propofol, a powerful sleep-inducing drug used in surgeries and other medical procedures.

Officials said the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency was also given a test result in mid-February showing Yoo's hair sample positive for cocaine and ketamine.

Police plan to summon the actor as a suspect for questioning that will focus on where he purchased the illegal drugs and the circumstance of his drug use as the investigation draws to an end, the officials also said.

Moreover, Netflix Korea has removed South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in, currently under police investigation for habitual use of four illegal drug substances, from the sequel to its hit original series “Hellbound.”
