ENHYPEN sings theme song for Tayo.. Kids-pop, collaboration of K-pop X children's contents

SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- A recent increase in collaborations between K-pop and kids contents is raising attention.

New boy band ENHYPEN is releasing a remake of “Hey Tayo”, the theme song for“Tayo the Little Bus” at 6 p.m. on the 29th simultaneously in all the countries around the world, announced its distribution company Sony Music Entertainment Korea on the 23rd.

“Tayo the Little Bus” is a South Korean animation series for kids and the main character “Tayo”, the city bus, go through fun events and experiences that always convey lessons with its various car friends.

“Hey Tayo” is already a mega hit with a record of over 1.3 billion views on streaming platforms around the world, especially popular among the South-East Asian youngsters in their 10s and 20s.

ENHYPEN is remaking this song with its uniquely energetic and strong vocal. In the music video, the members show a powerful performance in front of the bus garage from the animation and attractions in Seoul.

The band and the animation will be later presenting “Billy Poco”, their second collaborated single.

Through a vote by global fans, ENHYPEN debuted last November and has been gathering a huge number of foreign fans including the US and Japan.

Apart from ENHYPEN, more and more K-pop idol singers are revealing kids-pop collaboration in which they sing theme or characters’ songs from kids’ animations.

Girl group MOMOLAND’s “Banana Chacha” became an issue with elementary and younger children uploading cover videos for the song. “Tiki Taka”, its next song was released last year.

Another girl group Oh My Girl, in collaboration with one of the most loved animation character in Korea, Pororo, has been using the name “Po~My Girl” and been issuing project songs such as “SUPADUPA” and “Boggle Boggle”.

YeoJin, Kim Lip, Choerry and Go Won from group Loona surprised their fans presenting “Yum-Yum” with  animation “Cocomong” last month.

Boy group NCT Dream uploaded an animation video of their first regular title song “Hot Sauce” in a style of a popular children's contents brand, Pinkfong, on May. The 7 members wearing Pinkfong’s dinosaur costumes appear in the video as the main characters of the animation.

Numerous kids-pop contents can be seen these days because both genres can expand their range of consumer to wider generations and overseas markets through their collaboration.

An official from the industry said, “Previous targets for the animation producers were limited to children but by holding hands with idols they can expand target generations and aim for global markets.” They also predict that K-pop idols can benefit from the co-work being able to approach to younger generations.
