SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Yonhap) -- K-pop ballad group 2AM has released a new album this month, returning as a complete group after a near seven-year hiatus.
2AM's Lee Chang-min proudly introduced the latest album, saying, "It will be a collection of ballads that will warm people's hearts," adding, "Through this album, I want to leave a lasting impression on the listeners as 2AM being a separate musical genre."
"My heart is beating because I have waited a long time for 2AM to comeback. As a 2AM fan myself, I have long awaited for the day to perform on stage."
"We hope to live up to our reputation of being the best when we work together as 2AM," the four-piece act said in a Q&A, released by its agency on Monday. "We want to remain as artists who are always remembered like a scent of a particular season."
The album contains a total of five songs, including the double title tracks "Should've known" and "No good in good-bye" and three other tracks "Can't sleep," "Propose," and "Always Me."
"Should've known," a sad ballad song about longing for someone who was taken for granted, was co-written and produced by famous composer Bang Si-hyuk, also known as the so-called "Father of BTS." Producer Bang has also written 2AM's hit songs, such as "Never let you go" and "You Wouldn't Answer My Calls," in the past.
"No good in good-bye," which depicts complicated emotions one feels when they suddenly have to break up with a love one, was written by K-pop guru Park Jin-young, better known as the label founder of 2AM's original agency JYP Entertainment.
"This album contains nostalgia for the music that earned us the title of 'ballad idols," which was also first born thanks to Park Jin-young and Bang Si-hyuk's production skills. We also added 2AM's own sentiments," member Jo Kwon said. "We want to top all the ballads this fall and winter by showing our matured and stable vocal skills we have prepared during the past seven years."
Jo Kwon, who appeared as a special guest on Mnet's dance audition show "Street Woman Fighter," was seen dancing with exuberance in high heels during the performance.
"After performing a special stage on Mnet's 'Street Woman Fighter,' I decided to come down from the heels for a while and make a comeback with 2AM's gentle image," Jo Kwon said.
2AM's Jeong Jin-woon introduced the double title tracks as "representative 2AM ballads that portray hints of the two 'fathers' (producer Park Jin-young and Bang Si-hyuk) who created 2AM."
Regarding Park Jin-young and Bang Si-hyuk, Lee Chang-min said, "While it has been 14 years since we made our debut, the two producers still see us as little brothers. We completed this album after receiving a lot of guidance."
"The songs from JYP and Big Hit Music were different in terms of the way it was directed," Jo Kwon said. "So when listening to the double title tracks, it might be interesting for people to compare the styles between the two producers."
"While this album may not be regarded the best, we really did our best every day until the album was completed. I have no doubt that our efforts will be clearly delivered," Lim Seul-ong said.
