SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- An exhibition spotlighting the life and art of painter and actress Seo Eun-hye, who has Down syndrome, is being held at independent arthouse cinema Picture House in Seoul's Garosu-gil district.
Titled "To Eun-hye," the special exhibition runs through June 21 and combines film, visual art and storytelling into a multifaceted artistic experience.
Seo, 37, has built her artistic world around communication and connection.
Film director Seo Dong-il, her father and the director of the documentary film "You Are My Face," said many people with developmental disabilities become isolated from society due to difficulties with verbal communication.
"For Eun-hye, painting became another tool for communication," he said.
According to the director, Seo spent years withdrawn from society, but gradually began reconnecting with the world through art while painting at the Dumulmeori Market in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
He said interactions with visitors, including warm words and smiles, helped transform her life, describing art as "a process of recovery" beyond simple expression.
