SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) – Jin, the eldest member of the South Korean mega-hit boy group BTS, is still in the process of finishing his basic training in the military.

The multi-faceted member of the K-pop supergroup was officially named the company commander of his unit at the boot camp, according to the Korean army Saturday.

Company commander trainees are selected by the trainees of each platoon themselves, and they are responsible for distributing executive instructions to the rest of the platoon as well as saluting them as representatives when calling.

As Jin is one of the oldest trainees in his unit and definitely the most well-known, he is said to have garnered the support of the trainees.

A photo of Jin’s training scene was posted on the Facebook page, “News from the Army Training Center.” The post explained “This photo shows trainees from the same unit as Jin pouring water to wash his face, frowning with pain after the CBR training,” adding, “Jin is working very hard at the military that more are being fond of him.”

Born in 1992, Jin entered the boot camp of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, on Dec. 13. His expected date of discharge is June 12, 2024.
