SEOUL, July 23 (Yonhap) -- The real-life vocal performers behind virtual idol groups, including Isegye Idol, Plave and Be-Done, are increasingly joining the Korea Music Performers' Association (KMPA).

 

The KMPA said Wednesday that the vocal performers behind the five-member virtual group Be-Done, which debuted in May, recently became members of the organization.

 

"As virtual content has grown into a major segment of the popular music industry, greater attention is also being paid to the rights of the real performers who sing and play music behind the virtual characters," the association said.

 

The vocal performers behind the fictional girl group Huntrix and boy group Saja Boys from the Netflix animated film "KPop Demon Hunters" have also joined the association. The performers behind virtual idol groups Isegye Idol and Plave are likewise KMPA members.

 

Kim Seung-min, executive director of the KMPA, said the association is continuing to strengthen its rights protection system so that music performers in various fields can receive fair rights and compensation in the era of artificial intelligence and virtual content.
