SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- Suga of BTS issued an apology on the 7th after being caught riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol the previous evening.

Through the fan community platform Weverse, Suga stated, "I am deeply regretful and sorry for having to approach you with disappointing news," bowing his head in remorse.

He reiterated, "Although there were no victims or damaged property, it is entirely my responsibility with no excuses, and I extend my sincere apologies to everyone."

According to the police, Suga, who is currently serving as a social service worker, was found by authorities in a fallen state after drinking and riding an electric scooter in the Yongsan District. He has been booked for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).

Suga explained, "After drinking during a dinner gathering last night, I rode an electric scooter home. I failed to recognize that even short distances and the use of an electric scooter under the influence were violations of traffic laws."

He added, "While parking the scooter in front of my home, I fell alone, and nearby police officers conducted a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a license revocation and a fine."

Expressing remorse, Suga said, "I sincerely apologize to everyone hurt by my careless and wrong actions, and I will be more cautious in the future to prevent such incidents."

Suga has been fulfilling his mandatory military service as a social service worker since September last year, with his discharge scheduled for next June.
