SEOUL December 6 (Yonhap) -- As the advancement of AI technology furthers its development some of the news are hosted by AI broadcasters instead of traditional male and female anchors.

South Korean broadcasting provider MBN showcased first ever AI built anchor Kim Ju-ha on November of 2020, and will be showcasing an improved version of their initial version of AI anchor. Unlike people AI version of anchors are less susceptible health issues or any potential incidents caused throughout the broadcast nor they age, therefore some critics expect the AI anchors to replace all the existing anchors in the near future. AI reporters and AI weather forecasters will be developed in the future as well.

D’Live which is one of the South Korean broadcasting service will be using their AI anchor “LoA” throughout their broadcasting service addressed the service provider on Tuesday.

LoA is a shortened versions of Local Announcer, where D’Live participated in every step of developing the technology for the first time as a broadcasting provider.

LoA bases on the database of actual anchors vocal and visual data, where they shape into virtual characters and by using the deep learning process LoA continues on with its study and development.

D’Live has managed to create a ecosystem where they can create various programs using the AI anchor under the clouding system.

Given the benefit of AI anchors which can be used right away after short period of teaching and learning, D’Live plans to further their expansion in business.

Moreover, D’Live plans to develop AI models for the advertisements, AI version of customer service and more in the future.

DeepBrain AI presented fully functional AI anchor throughout the showcase of “Project Max” held at the headquarter of Arirang Tv located in Seoul on December 2.

Apparently the AI anchor showcased throughout the event can fluently speak both Korean and English within one sentence.

DeepBrain AI anchor will go through finalization stage and will appear on to the broadcast of Arirang TV starting in 2023. Also AI reporters and weather forecasters will be introduced shortly.

DeepBrain AI and Arirang TV signed an agreement on co-development of AI anchors and went under the development using the database of various vocal sounds, and models to create a deep learning algorithm.

CEO of the DeepBrain AI addressed “Through continuous development with Arirang Tv, we will strive forward to create AI usable for various industries.”
