SEOUL, Feb. 3 (Yonhap) -- Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, the wife of Koo Jun-yup (DJ Koo), former member of the K-pop duo CLON, has passed away due to pneumonia, local media outlet reported on Monday. She was 48 years old.
Her younger sister, Dee Hsu, a well-known TV personality, confirmed the news through an agent, stating, "Our entire family was on a trip to Japan when my most precious and loving sister, Barbie Hsu, sadly left us due to pneumonia caused by influenza."
Barbie Hsu gained widespread fame as the lead actress in the Taiwanese adaptation of Meteor Garden, the drama series based on the Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers. In South Korea, she was affectionately known as "Taiwan’s Geum Jan-di," after the Korean drama heroine of the same storyline.
Hsu married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011, and they had a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son before divorcing in 2021. In 2022, she remarried Koo Jun-yup, drawing significant attention from both Korean and Taiwanese entertainment industries.
