SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- The film "Bogota: City of the Last Chance (Bogota)," starring Song Joong-ki, struggled at the box office but has gained worldwide attention following its release on Netflix.

Director Kim Seong-je’s Bogota recorded 13 million views -- calculated by dividing total watch hours by the film’s runtime -- from March 3 to 9, making it the No. 1 non-English film on Netflix, according to distributor Plus M Entertainment on Thursday.

In the combined rankings of English and non-English films, it secured second place. The film ranked first in ten countries, including South Korea and Colombia, where the story is set, and entered the top 10 in a total of 73 countries.

Released in theaters last December, Bogota is a crime film set in the aftermath of the 1997 IMF financial crisis. It follows a young boy, Guk-hee (played by Song Joong-ki), who moves to Bogota, Colombia, and becomes entangled with the influential figures of the local Korean community, including Soo-young (Lee Hee-jun) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae-hyo).

At the time of its theatrical release, Bogota struggled against competing films like Harbin and Firefighter, drawing only 420,000 moviegoers. As a result, it was made available on Netflix on March 4.
