SEOUL, May 14 (Yonhap) -- Netflix will launch a global tour inspired by the animated film "KPop Demon Hunters," the streaming platform said Thursday.
Netflix announced through its official Tudum site that it will develop and produce the global tour in partnership with AEG Presents.
"AEG and Netflix are bringing the magic of Honmoon to venues near you," the company said. "Audiences will be able to experience the golden energy in real life through a live event that brings elements of the two-time Oscar-winning 'KPop Demon Hunters' to life in spectacular fashion."
According to foreign media outlets, including Deadline, Netflix officially unveiled the tour plan during its upfront presentation in New York.
Amy Reinhard, Netflix's president of advertising, said at the event that no title had captured global attention like "KPop Demon Hunters." She added the tour would allow fans to experience the characters and music they love more closely.
The cast lineup for the live performances has not yet been disclosed. Attention is focusing on whether performers behind fictional girl group Huntrix and demon boy group Saja Boys will participate.
Tour dates and host cities will be announced later this year.
"KPop Demon Hunters" follows the story of girl group Huntrix, who protect the human world from evil spirits. The film won the animation prize at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Award for best animated feature in March this year.
Its original soundtrack song "Golden" also won best original song awards at the Golden Globes and the Oscars, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
The film has remained on Netflix's global Top 10 list for English-language films for 47 consecutive weeks since its release.
