SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- tvN's upcoming weekend drama series "My Chilling Romance" will also be released as a webtoon, with the digital comic set to debut a day ahead of the television premiere, the broadcaster said Thursday.

 

The webtoon adaptation of the drama starring Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong will be released on Naver Webtoon on July 17.

 

Premiering on tvN on July 18, "My Chilling Romance" is an occult romance series about Cheon Yeo-ri (Park), the heiress to a conglomerate family who can see ghosts, and Ma Kang-wook (Yang), a passionate prosecutor who fears ghosts more than anything else, as they join forces.

 

Based on the 2011 film of the same title, the project is expanding its intellectual property into the webtoon format alongside the television series.

 

The webtoon will be released every Friday night as part of Naver Webtoon's Saturday lineup and is scheduled to launch simultaneously in seven overseas markets in mid-August.

 

"The webtoon will offer a new kind of entertainment unique to the format, including a vertical-scroll composition optimized for digital reading and horror imagery that goes beyond the physical limitations of live-action production, enhancing the thrills of the occult romance genre," a tvN official said.
