SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- Actor Kim Soo-hyun, who had effectively suspended his activities amid allegations surrounding the late actress Kim Sae-ron, made his first official public appearance in about a year and five months.

 

Kim appeared on "MAHAKARYA RCTI 37," a special live broadcast marking the 37th anniversary of RCTI, Indonesia's largest private broadcaster, on Sunday local time.

 

After greeting viewers by saying, "I sincerely thank you for inviting me to such a meaningful occasion," Kim sang "Dreaming," an OST from the 2011 drama "Dream High," in which he starred.

 

The live broadcast also showed Indonesian fans shedding tears at his appearance.

 

RCTI released a video of Kim performing on social media, saying, "We were finally able to sing with Kim Soo-hyun," and thanking him for attending "MAHAKARYA RCTI 37," calling it "the best moment."

 

Kim became embroiled in controversy after allegations emerged that he had dated Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.

 

Since then, Kim Se-eui, head of the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute," which raised the allegations, was indicted and detained on charges including defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act. Kim Soo-hyun was also cleared of allegations including violations of the Child Welfare Act and resumed activities through overseas commercial shoots.

 

Kim is also scheduled to hold a fan meeting for about 20,000 people at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila in October as an advertising model for Philippine fashion brand Bench.
