SEOUL, June 26 (Yonhap) -- Rapper Jung Sang-soo will release the collaborative single "OKAY" with fellow rappers New Champ, Tarae and TANK at 6 p.m. Friday, production company Tiger Studio said.
The four rappers candidly reflect on their lives and personal experiences over an old-school breakbeat, a rhythmic style commonly used in hip-hop and electronic music.
Tiger Studio described "OKAY" as "an anthem for everyone still enduring hardships in life," adding that it hoped the song would inject fresh energy into South Korea's recently subdued hip-hop scene.
Jung made his debut with his first album in 2009 and gained wider recognition after appearing on Seasons 3 through 5 of Mnet's hip-hop competition program "Show Me the Money" from 2014 to 2016. He later became the subject of public criticism following a series of controversies.
TANK, who participated in the project as both producer and rapper, said the song is "not about people who have made it, but about those who have experienced failure."
"I wanted to convey the hope that even if you fail, you can always get back on your feet," he said.
