SEOUL, July 12 (Yonhap) -- Koji Yakusho, a beloved Japanese actor, will be visiting Korea later this month to promote the film "Perfect Days," which depicts the touching daily life of a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo.
Distributor TCast announced on the 12th that Yakusho will be in Korea from the 20th to the 21st. This visit marks his return to Korea after 15 years since attending the 14th Busan International Film Festival with his directorial debut "Toad's Oil" in 2009.
During his stay, Yakusho will engage with audiences to discuss various aspects of "Perfect Days."
Directed by German auteur Wim Wenders, "Perfect Days" explores the daily life of Hirayama (played by Yakusho), a public toilet cleaner in Shibuya, Tokyo, offering a reflective and moving portrayal of life.
Yakusho's performance in this film earned him the Best Actor award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. One standout scene that left a lasting impression on audiences features Hirayama driving, his face a canvas of overwhelming emotions.
Koji Yakusho, known as a national treasure in Japan, has also gained considerable recognition in Korea through his roles in films like "Cure" (1997), "The Eel" (1999), and "Shall We Dance?"
