SEOUL, March 29th (Yonhap) -- Chanyeol, a member of K-pop boy group EXO, will enlist as an active duty soldier on the 29th.
According to SM Entertainment, Chanyeol will join the army on Monday and undergo basic military training and serve the army afterwards. The place and time of the singer's enlistment are not disclosed and no separate events are scheduled to happen.
Chanyeol is the fifth EXO member to join the army. Xiumin and D.O. were discharged from the army after completing their military service, while Chen and Suho are still in the process of serving the military.
The 28-year-old singer debuted as an EXO member in 2012 and was part of S. Korea's most renowned idol group with hits such as "Growl", "Overdose", and "Call Me Baby".
However, during last October, a person who claimed to be Chanyeol's ex-girlfriend exposed the fact that the singer had cheated on her with many women during their relationship.
Chanyeol posted a message on a fan community site last month writing, "I'm sorry for causing concern to EXO-L (name of EXO's official fan club). I'm thinking of ways to protect my fans' hearts and I will never worry you guys again."
