SEOUL, Oct. 20 (Yonhap) -- K-pop rookie girl group aespa, which attracted global attention with its unique avatar concept, secured a place on various major Billboard charts.
The four-piece act's first EP "Savage" debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, according to its management agency on Wednesday.
Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums by converting the number of streams and digital downloads into album sales and adding them together.
The K-pop act also ranked No. 20 on the "Artist 100" chart, which determines the influence and popularity each artist holds. SM Entertainment reported that aespa scored the highest rankings among other K-pop girl groups within the chart.
In addition, the girl group topped the World Albums and Independent Albums charts, entering a total of 10 charts, including the Top Album Sales (2nd), Top Current Album Sales (2nd), and World Digital Song Sales (13th).
"With aespa's first mini-album, the group swept the U.S. Billboard charts and confirmed its global power once again," SM Entertainment said.
The multinational group drew attention after debuting last November under a rare concept of connecting with avatars.
"Savage," which was released earlier this month, topped the domestic music and album charts, while competing with aespa's previous hit single "Next Level" for first place in music broadcasts such as KBS 2TV's "Music Bank" and SBS's "Inkigayo."
