SEOUL August 24 (Yonhap) -- Regarding the controversy sparked by the recent Hanbok (Korean traditional Attire) photo shoot done at Cheong Wa Dae (former presidential office) official from the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that they will be more mindful when it comes to renting out a cultural heritage site.

According to the public statement released by the team in charge of opening up the doors to former presidential office in Cultural Heritage Administration on Tuesday “Cultural Heritage Administration will accept all the accusations and worried opinions on the subject matter of the photo shoot taken place in Cheong Wa Dae.”

Vogue magazine released a photo book including pictures take at the former oval office on August 22.

Photo book, which is a collaborative work between “Visit Korean Heritage Campaign” and Cultural Heritage Administration featured South Korean super model Han Hye-jin Kim Won-kyung, and more. Photos were taken throughout the main building, Sangchunjae (Only traditional type of building in former presidential office), Youngbingwan (State guest house) and more with various clothes including Hanbok.

Model Han Hye-jin posed for the photo shoot while laid down in Cheong Wa Dae with a dress which conjures up the image of big flower bud, and Kim Won-kyung posed while wearing a short dress and a coat on the stair of the main building of former oval office in front of painter Kim Sik’s Guemsugangsando (painting of land of beautiful scenery).

However some critics stated that usage of former presidential office is inappropriate.

Moreover, some also criticized on the fact that models were laying down in the space where state guests come to participate in a banquet or to see the traditional performance.

Group in charge of the photo shoot described their intention of taking photos in Cheong Wa Dae as “We wanted to showcase the former presidential office which opened its doors to public in 74 years in a unique way through Hanbok photo book.”
Continuing on “Magazine ‘Vogue’ is a magazine published in 27 different countries with 130 years of publication history tried implementing a unique and modern twist which will co align with South Korea’s first attempt of opening up the former presidential office.”

“Vogue Korea” is known for taking photos in Myungdong Cathedral, Kyungbok Palace, Bukchon Hanok village and more authentic South Korean tourist spots in the past.

Team in charge of opening up Cheong Wa Dae stated “We will implement more strict regulations which will be used while evaluating the suitability on matters such as photo shoots or authorization on using the place.”

Although former chief of presidential protocol Tak Hyun-min did not mention “Vouge Korea” directly, Tak Hyun-min’s post criticizing the magazine which was uploaded to his social media page is receiving a lot of attention.

“It is evident that President Yoon Suk Yeol did not simply relocate the presidential office” adding “He single handedly closed down South Korea’s most significant historical place without getting an approval from the public.” announced former chief of presidential protocol throughout his statement published through his Facebook account on August 22.

Tak Hyun-min continued on by stating “President Yoon did not only seal off Cheong Wa Dae but also under the bluff of opening up the place, historically severed us from the place” adding “Nobody has the authority to do so an most definitely president Yoon was not rewarded with the authority to do so.”

The post continued on with the criticism by stating “Administration’s act to close down Cheong Wa Dae failed in terms of Procedures, processes and expected outcome.”

Throughout his criticism former chief of presidential protocol Tak listed up problems related to opening up Cheong Wa Dae starting with “Rushed opening event of Cheong Wa Dae,” “management problems leading up to incapability of cleaning the place up after the tour,” “issues related to restoration of Governors’ Palace,“ and concluded by summing up with the statement “Half planned usage plan.”

Moreover, Ex chief of presidential Protocol Tak Hyun-min stated “Government with lack of historical understanding and humanities knowledge is damaging out countries dignity, the situation will only worsen throughout the time.”
