SEOUL, Feb. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korean retailer E-Mart said Thursday that it opened the fourth overseas outlet of its private-label store brand "No Brand" in downtown Vientiane, marking the largest No Brand store in Laos to date.

The new “No Brand Saphanthong” store spans about 710 square meters, making it the biggest among No Brand outlets in the Southeast Asian country.

The store features the first “deli corner” introduced at an overseas No Brand outlet. The approximately 20-pyeong space will prepare and sell popular Korean street foods, such as gimbap, tteokbokki, fish cake and ramyeon, on-site. It will also offer ready-to-eat dishes made from No Brand frozen products.

The company said the deli corner aims to translate growing local interest in K-food into an offline experience platform where customers can “eat and experience” Korean cuisine.

E-Mart added that No Brand is strengthening its role as an “export platform” to help small and medium-sized South Korean enterprises expand overseas.

As of last year, about 350 SMEs supplied products to No Brand, accounting for roughly 65 percent of the brand’s total product lineup. No Brand products are currently exported to more than 20 countries across Asia, Europe and North America, the company said.

An E-Mart official said the No Brand specialty stores in Laos are quickly gaining a foothold in the market based on their product competitiveness, adding the company will continue to expand experiential spaces and introduce more locally tailored products and services.
