SEOUL, April 9 (Yonhap) -- K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment has donated 300 million won (USD$225,000) to World Vision to assist emergency relief efforts and medical support for children affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar, the company announced on Wednesday.
The donation will be directed toward 11 villages in Myanmar’s Mandalay region, which suffered severe damage in the earthquake last month. Funds will be used to provide emergency food, daily necessities, clean drinking water, and cover medical and psychosocial support for affected children.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and all those who have lost their homes in an instant due to the earthquake,” JYP stated. “We hope the aid for medical treatment helps children and their families recover their health and return to daily life as soon as possible.”
JYP Entertainment has consistently contributed to disaster relief efforts. The company previously donated 500 million won in 2020 to fight the spread of COVID-19, 300 million won in 2022 to support wildfire recovery in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang provinces, 500 million won in 2023 to aid children and residents affected by the Turkiye-Syria earthquake, and another 500 million won last month to assist children and displaced families after wildfires in South Gyeongsang and North Gyeongsang provinces.
