SEOUL, July 12 (Yonhap) -- SM Entertainment will unveil the growth process of its new UK boy group, launching in the second half of the year, through a BBC TV series.
On July 12, SM Entertainment announced that this summer, a six-part TV series titled "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience" will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This series marks the debut of a boy group formed through a collaboration between the North American joint venture of SM and Kakao Entertainment and the British entertainment company MOON&BACK (M&B).
Aiming at markets in Europe and the United States, this five-member group is set to debut later this year. M&B handled the casting in the UK, while SM provided expertise in music, choreography, and vocals based on their extensive K-pop knowledge.
The series will document the group's 100-day stay in Seoul, where they undergo K-pop training and develop as musicians. SM's Artist Development Center, responsible for casting and training, will be involved in the training process.
Nigel Hall, co-founder of M&B, stated, "Forming a British boy band, undergoing unparalleled K-pop training, and showcasing them on the global stage will be a world-first and an unmissable broadcast."
SM and Kakao Entertainment plan to continue producing global local IPs while accelerating their global expansion through multifaceted business collaborations with leading partners worldwide.
