SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- The agency of actor Kim Soo-hyun said Friday it welcomed what it called a "fair and strict judgment" after Kim Se-ui, head of the YouTube channel HoverLab, was referred to prosecutors while in custody.
Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun's agency, released a notice on the results of the police investigation and said it was "deeply grateful to the investigative authorities for carrying out the probe and uncovering the truth, and to the judicial authorities for making a fair and strict judgment."
According to the police notice released by the agency, Kim Se-ui was referred to prosecutors on June 3 on charges including violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, specifically the distribution of illegally obtained images.
The agency also expressed gratitude to fans.
"We sincerely thank all the fans who have supported Kim Soo-hyun and stood by him for such a long time," it said. "Your trust and encouragement have been a great source of strength during these difficult times."
Kim Se-ui was arrested on May 26 on allegations that he spread false claims on YouTube that Kim Soo-hyun had dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor and that pressure from the actor to repay debt was the direct cause of her death.
The agency issued a statement the day after Kim Se-ui's arrest, saying, "The truth has finally been proven through procedures prescribed by law and a thorough investigation."
Kim Se-ui filed a request for a review of the legality of his detention on May 31, five days after his arrest, but the court rejected the request.
