SEOUL, April 8 (Yonhap) – South Korean singer IU recently offered words of comfort to a saddened fan in Taiwan who was affected by the earthquake, as reported by Taiwanese media such as United Daily News and China Times on the 8th.
During the final performance of her world tour 'H.E.R' held at the Taipei Arena on the 6th and 7th, IU conveyed a message of deep condolences and sympathy in Chinese, English, and Korean subtitles, extending deep condolences and mourning for the victims and their families of the Hualien earthquake. The diva also thanked the relief team at the site.
In response, local Uaenas (IU's fandom) were deeply moved by IU's sincere expression and reportedly stayed in their seats for a long time, touched by her words.
During the encore stage, IU also comforted the hearts of fans affected by the earthquake through her performance of 'Love Poem'.
In this concert, IU showcased songs like 'Holssi', characterized by catchy rhymes and fairy-tale-like melody. She communicated with enthusiastic fans in Chinese, expressing, "I practiced a lot to greet you in your language."
IU also gifted fans with card cases and keychains specially made for the Taipei concert.
Currently, IU is conducting her world tour 'H.E.R' in 18 cities around the world, including Seoul.
Meanwhile, near Hualien County in eastern Taiwan, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred on the 3rd (announced as 7.4 by US and European earthquake authorities), resulting in 13 deaths and 6 missing persons. Authorities continue rescue operations amidst approximately 700 aftershocks, focusing on famous tourist spots like Taroko National Park.
