SEOUL, May 16 (Yonhap) -- K-pop girl group NewJeans has released a special performance video, making them the first K-pop girl group to perform at Geunjeongjeon Hall in Gyeongbokgung Palace.
This video is a recording of a special stage performance for the "2024 Korea On Stage" event, organized by the Cultural Heritage Service and hosted by TV broadcaster KBS.
Geunjeongjeon Hall is a significant national heritage site designated as a National Treasure, serving as a venue for important state ceremonies during the Joseon Dynasty. This marks the second time the area has been opened for public music performances, following BTS's music video shoot in 2020.
In the video, NewJeans showcased the beauty of Korea, adorned in delicate white hanbok attire, traditional beoseon-shaped shoes, and ornate hair accessories, against the backdrop of Geunjeongjeon Hall illuminated at night.
Expressing their gratitude, NewJeans stated, "It is an honor to perform on the stage of Gyeongbokgung Palace's Geunjeongjeon, our precious national heritage. Through this opportunity, we hope to raise awareness of Korea's cultural heritage among many people."
KBS emphasized that NewJeans special stage not only introduces the beauty and value of national heritage but also serves as an opportunity for Geunjeongjeon Hall to promote Korean culture worldwide.
"Korea On Stage" will take place on the special stage in front of Heungnyemun Gate at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul's Jongno-gu on the 21st.
