CHEONGJU, Oct. 22 (Yonhap) -- The 2026 Osong Cosmetics & Beauty Expo, a global business platform for K-beauty, opened Thursday at OSCO in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province.
Hosted by North Chungcheong Province and Cheongju and organized by the Osong Bio Promotion Foundation, the expo is an industry-focused event combining B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) activities, including corporate exhibitions, export consultations, conferences and beauty experiences.
Held under the slogan "K-Beauty Osong, Growing Together With the World," the expo has drawn a record 254 companies, raising expectations for the event.
The exhibition hall opened at 10 a.m., and was bustling as visitors began touring the exhibits and business consultations got underway.
At 2 p.m., an official opening ceremony will be held with the participation of key figures from various sectors, as well as domestic and overseas beauty industry officials and visitors.
The expo places a particular focus on serving as a "B2B-centered export platform" to support business growth.
A series of one-on-one customized export consultations with 200 carefully selected bona fide overseas buyers, in cooperation with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and others, as well as global major buyers such as Japan's Marui Group, has officially kicked off. More than 1,200 B2B consultations are expected to take place.
An investment relations (IR) and mentoring program for 10 promising startups also got underway amid an enthusiastic response.
Among the specialized academic events, a seminar on strategies for entering the European market hosted by the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a K-Clean Beauty seminar organized by the Korea Testing & Research Institute for Chemical Industry are being held Thursday. The International Bio-Cosmetics Conference and a seminar on next-generation cosmetics technology and global K-beauty innovation strategies are scheduled for Friday.
Alongside the bustling business activities, a variety of attractions have also been prepared for visitors.
In addition to prize events sponsored by 34 official sponsors, attractions include artificial intelligence (AI) skin diagnosis and caricature services, DIY perfume making, "Insaengnecut" photo booths and comedian Kim Young-hee's "Malja Show."
The expo runs through Oct. 24, with free admission.
For visitors using public transportation, free shuttle buses will run every 20 minutes between the bus charging station across from Exit 3 of KTX Osong Station and the expo venue.
"We will create an era in which the world comes to North Chungcheong Province, the heart of K-beauty, rather than us simply going out to the world," North Chungcheong Gov. Shin Yong-han said, calling for interest in and participation in the expo.
