SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Yonhap) -- Showbox, a Korean film investment and distribution company, is launching Showbite, a new label dedicated to planning and producing short-form dramas.

Showbox said on Thursday that it plans to release about 20 short-form dramas through Showbite by the end of this year.

First up is "Taste of You," which will premiere Sept. 11 on the short-form drama platforms Showtime and Vigloo. The series follows the second son of a global food conglomerate and a rival with an exceptional palate as they team up for a cooking competition and fall for each other. Alexander Morel and Jonathan Barcelos star in the series.

"Reaper: Return of Asura," an action thriller about a former secret agent named Asura who embarks on a brutal quest for revenge after his younger sister goes missing, is also set to be released. The cast includes actors Lee Sang-yeob and Yuk Jun-seo, as well as Hyunjoon, a former member of The Boyz.

Other upcoming titles include the historical drama "Joseon Seolhwaphim," set against the backdrop of secret gatherings of the Joseon-era upper class; "I Quit, and the Top Star Became Obsessed With Me," a romance between a manager and a star; and "Love in Thailand," which follows a romance between the heiress to a golf resort and a man hiding his identity.

Showbox has produced numerous Korean box-office hits that drew more than 10 million moviegoers, including "A Man Who Lives With the King," which ranks second on the all-time domestic box-office list, as well as "Exhuma," "A Taxi Driver" and "Assassination."

In June, Showbox signed a content co-production agreement with ReelShort, a Chinese-founded global short-form drama platform, signaling its entry into the short-form content market.
