SEOUL, Oct. 5 (Yonhap) -- The Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), a leading content marketplace in Asia, kicked off on the 5th at BEXCO's Exhibition Hall 2 in Haeundae, Busan. The four-day event provides a platform for the sale, promotion, and networking of content such as films, videos, books, webtoons, web novels, and stories.

 

The market includes a sales section and exhibition booths, with 253 companies from 30 countries participating. In addition to the European Pavilion hosted by the European Film Promotion, Italy and the UK have set up their own pavilions for the first time. Other participating countries include Japan, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Mongolia.

 

Microsoft is also taking part, showcasing its technology programs such as Copilot and demonstrating the integration of technology with content creation. The Busan Story Market introduces 47 intellectual property (IP) projects, selected through collaboration with international partners. Various drama production companies and investors will engage in business and networking to discuss rights and adaptation deals for these original works.

The Asian Project Market, in its 27th year, presents 30 feature film projects from 17 countries, with 13 award categories to be presented. This year, a new networking platform, Producer Hub, has been introduced, bringing together 123 producers from 18 countries to share information on film investments, production, and support programs. South Korea, selected as the "Country of the Year," will see 47 producers participating to explore international co-production opportunities.

 

The ACFM conference will feature 28 sessions, including an AI-themed discussion titled "Riding the Wave of AI in the Film and Content Industry," to analyze global trends in the film industry. Additionally, 174 emerging filmmakers from 28 countries are attending the Platform Busan initiative, which supports collaboration and growth among independent filmmakers.
