SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) -- Actor Jung Woo-sung, 51, is set to make a public appearance at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards this week, raising curiosity on whether he will mention Moon Ga-bi, who gave birth to his biological child.
Jung recently acknowledged being the biological father of 35-year-old model's son.
Jung’s agency, Artist Company, confirmed on Monday that he will attend the awards ceremony this Friday as scheduled.
Jung has been nominated for Best Actor for his performance in the blockbuster film Spring in Seoul, which attracted over 13 million viewers last year. Given his strong chances of winning, attention is focused on whether Jung will address his paternity during an acceptance speech.
The day before, Jung’s agency had confirmed reports that he is the father of Moon Ga-bi’s recently born son, stating, “Discussions are ongoing to determine the best approach to raising the child. Jung Woo-sung is committed to fulfilling his responsibilities as a father.” However, the agency declined to comment on details regarding their relationship or potential marriage plans.
According to Dispatch, the two first met at a gathering in 2022 but were not in an official relationship. Artist Company has emphasized that it will not address specifics about the timeline of the child’s birth or Jung’s personal life, leading to speculation that the actor might avoid the topic entirely at the awards ceremony.
However, given Jung’s history of making candid and socially conscious remarks in public forums, some predict that he may directly address the issue. Over the years, Jung has been known for speaking out on political and social matters. From 2015 to July of this year, he also served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR, actively raising awareness about refugee issues.
Whether Jung will confront the recent controversy or maintain his silence remains a focal point as the awards ceremony approaches.
