SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- Popular webtoon “Personal Taxi” will be adapted into a mid-form series jointly produced by a Korean production company and Japan’s Fuji TV.
Big in Square and Studio Flow, the drama’s co-producers, announced Tuesday that “Personal Taxi” has finalized its cast, including Cha Tae-hyun, Lee Jae-in, Lim Se-mi, Hyun Bong-sik, Lee Yeon-hee, Kim Do-hyun, Mimi, Joo Jong-hyuk, Ye Ji-won, Ahn Ji-ho, Lim Ha-ryong and Ye Soo-jung.
The work will be produced as an eight-part mid-form seasonal drama.
Set against the backdrop of a mysterious taxi that only accepts reservations, the drama will tell heartwarming stories of ordinary yet special passengers, accompanied by their requested songs. It is described as a human healing music drama designed to evoke empathy and comfort.
The project will be directed by Jeon Chang-geun, known for his delicate portrayal of humanity and genre-spanning works such as “The Queen of Office,” “Mystic Pop-up Bar,” “Artificial City” and “What Happens to My Family?” Music directors Park Sung-il and Han Saem, who have crafted soundtracks that transcend background music in works like “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” “Itaewon Class,” “My Mister,” “Misaeng” and “Signal,” will also take part.
“Personal Taxi” has drawn attention with its ensemble cast that combines top stars with rising actors.
The drama is also notable for being a co-production with Fuji TV. It is expected to expand globally, either through remakes or distribution in Asia, North America and Europe. The project was selected for the Korea Creative Content Agency’s “2025 OTT-specialized content production support program,” ensuring stable production conditions.
Studio Flow, known for producing Netflix titles “A Time Called You” and “In the Woods with No One,” is also on board to enhance the work’s quality.
Big in Square previously earned critical recognition by producing “The Killers,” a cinema anthology project in which six directors reinterpreted Ernest Hemingway’s short story. The work was invited to the Busan International Film Festival, the New York Asian Film Festival, the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Sitges Film Festival.
