Loona to debut in Japan... to drop first single on 15th

SEOUL, Sep. 9 (Yonhap) -- Girl band Loona is to officially debut in Japan.

The band’s first Japanese single consisting of 4 tracks including the title “HULA HOOP” and “Starseed~awaken~” (translated) will be released on the 15th, according to their agency BlockBerry Creative Thursday. The physical version will be dropped on October 20th.

Ryan S. Jhun, producer of “PTT (Paint The Town),” the title track for Loona’s 4th mini-album, has took part in composing “HULA HOOP.” The lyrics were written by a Japanese producer AKIRA.

“Starseed~awaken~” (translated) was produce by rookie composer Kubo Naoki and its lyrics were written by Suu (real name Sumire Yoshida), vocal and guitarist of Japanese female band SILENT SIREN.

“It will be a fresh combination of K-pop and J-pop,” said the agency.

Loona appeared in the music scene in 2018 and has been gathering tis fandom in and out the country with their unique universe and great performances.

Especially, the group has attracted keen interest entering Billboard main chart “Billboard 200” as No. 112 last year which was an unprecedent accomplishment for an artist from a small and medium-sized agency.

The band’s English song “Star” ranked in “Mediabase Top 40,” North American radio’s chart for popular songs, for 9 consecutive weeks breaking K-pop girl groups’ longest record.
